Dobbie first engaged into the defence sector way back in the early 1940’s during WWII, at that time providing the U.S. Navy with specialised deck equipment for their Pacific Fleet, based here in Perth. Thereafter we provided various castings for the Royal Australian Navy but by the early 1950’s we had concentrated our efforts in civilian markets.
After an appeal by the Australian Government in 2017, Dobbie re-engaged into the sector, initially supplying pump componentry for the Royal Australian Navy Surface Ship program (ANZAC Class Frigates). Since then, we have grown our capabilities and capacities to satisfy the demanding requirements of the Australian Defence Forces and today, we are an active participant in the government mandate to develop sovereign manufacturing.
We manufacture a wide range of equipment: Valves and pump componentry, hydrants, deck furniture, motor parts, vehicle brackets, and much more!

Currently we work with both Prime and Sub-Prime Contractors, supplying critical components for a range of naval platforms including surface and sub-surface vessels. Additionally, we work with Prime Contractors in other defence sectors (Land Force) providing valuable inputs into their local supply chains.
With the 2021 announcement of the trilateral, AUKUS security pact and Australia’s ambition to purchase nuclear powered submarines, Dobbie finds itself well positioned to provide manufacturing support for a range of required elements, well into the coming decades.
We are enthusiastically associated with a number of industry organisations who stated aims are to assist Australian companies to meaningfully engage with Defence Industry Prime Contractors and the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
In 2023, Dobbie gained Entry Level Membership of the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) further underscoring its commitment to servicing Defence Industry within Australia.
