As a champion of Australian manufacturing ourselves, Dobbie actively supports other local business and our community. We seek to source as much of our supply chain from not just Australian companies, but from those local to us here in W.A. We additionally support our community by employing local people and engaging in our local community through our charitable giving.
To continue to do this we acknowledge that we must make a profit in our business. Profit making is not a dirty term, it is an essential part of sustaining a business, so that it in turn can sustain all its stakeholders including employees, shareholders, suppliers and clients as well as the broader community in which we operate.
This, we call economic viability and maintaining it is core to our existence. Economic viability is often referred to as those practices which support long term economic growth whilst providing positive impacts upon the environmental, philanthropic, social and cultural aspects of our community.
Our commitment to our economic responsibility encompasses such aspects as:
- Using our resources effectively and efficiently in meeting the demand for our products.
- Providing our products at reasonable cost thereby providing economic value to our clients.
- Ensuring a sustainable profit margin on sales for our business.
- Providing meaningful employment opportunities to our local community.
- Providing ongoing, satisfying and productive employment to our staff.
- Paying salaries commensurate with market rates and the value of service provided.
- Meeting all leave (AL, LSL, etc.), superannuation and staff insurance obligations.
- Meeting all tax obligations for local, state and federal government/s, allowing them to feed this back into our community through their own initiatives.
- A corporate governance approach designed to provide ethical benefit to our community.
- Utilising our business platform in building a sustainable future.
- Through our profitability, provide increased opportunities for our shareholders to continue, and expand investments into our community.
- Understanding that our prosperity is inextricably linked to our community’s prosperity.
- Feeding the virtuous circle that our local employment provides for the economic welfare of other business and our broader community.
